Finding a dentist that works for everyone in the family isn’t easy. Your child needs a patient, gentle provider. You need someone thorough and efficient who respects your time. Your parents need a team that understands the dental challenges that come with aging. Coordinating appointments across three different offices isn’t realistic for most families.
At K&E Family Dental, we see patients of all ages under one roof. From your child’s first dental visit to your own routine cleaning to your parent’s denture adjustment, our team handles it all. We’ve been serving the Lawndale, Hawthorne, Gardena, and South Bay communities for over 20 years, and many of our patients have been with us long enough that we’ve watched their kids grow up.
Our approach is straightforward: prevent what we can, catch problems early, and treat conservatively. The best dental work is the work you never need, and that starts with consistent preventive care.
Preventive Dental Care
Prevention is the foundation of everything we do. Most serious dental problems, including cavities, gum disease, and tooth loss, are avoidable with regular checkups and good daily habits. Our preventive services are designed to keep your teeth and gums healthy so you spend less time and money in the dental chair over the long run.
Dental exams. Every visit begins with a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, bite, jaw, and oral soft tissue. We’re looking for early signs of decay, gum disease, oral cancer, TMJ issues, and anything else that could become a bigger problem if left unchecked. Regular exams are the single most effective way to catch issues when they’re small, simple, and inexpensive to treat.
Dental cleanings (prophylaxis). Even with diligent brushing and flossing, plaque and tartar build up in places your toothbrush can’t reach, especially along the gum line and between teeth. A professional cleaning removes that buildup, polishes your teeth, and gives your hygienist a chance to identify any areas that need extra attention at home. We recommend cleanings every six months for most patients, though some may benefit from more frequent visits.
Digital X-rays. X-rays let us see what’s happening beneath the surface: cavities forming between teeth, bone loss, infections at the root tip, impacted teeth, and other issues invisible to the naked eye. We use digital X-rays, which produce high-resolution images instantly and expose you to significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays.
Oral cancer screening. Every exam includes a visual and tactile screening for signs of oral cancer. Early detection dramatically improves outcomes, and the screening takes just a few minutes. We check the tongue, floor of the mouth, roof of the mouth, inner cheeks, lips, and throat for any unusual changes in color, texture, or shape.
Fluoride treatments. A quick, painless application of concentrated fluoride strengthens your enamel and makes your teeth more resistant to decay. Fluoride treatments are especially beneficial for children and for adults who are prone to cavities.
Dental sealants. Sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars), where most cavities in children and teens develop. The sealant fills in the deep grooves and pits where bacteria hide, creating a smooth surface that’s much easier to keep clean. The application takes minutes, involves no drilling, and can protect a tooth for years.
Restorative Dentistry
When a tooth is damaged by decay, injury, or wear, we offer a full range of restorative treatments to bring it back to full function and appearance.
Fillings. Small to mid-sized cavities are treated with tooth-colored composite fillings that blend in with your natural teeth. Learn more about fillings
Crowns and bridges. For teeth that are too damaged for a filling, a custom crown restores the tooth’s shape, strength, and appearance. Bridges replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. Learn more about crowns and bridges
Root canal therapy. When infection reaches the pulp inside a tooth, root canal treatment removes the infected tissue and saves the tooth from extraction. We handle many root canal cases in our office and refer complex cases to a trusted endodontist in our network. Learn more about root canals
Extractions. When a tooth can’t be saved, we perform gentle extractions with your comfort as the priority. This includes wisdom teeth removal for impacted or problematic third molars. Learn more about extractions
Dental implants. The gold standard for replacing missing teeth. A titanium post is placed in the jawbone and topped with a custom crown that looks and functions like a natural tooth. Learn more about dental implants
